At the same time, the EP guard has been designed to allow air to pass through to the radiator to maintain the optimum engine temperature. The radiator’s thin, soft aluminium cooling fins can, without a guard in place, easily bend - misaligned fins can restrict cooling air, which can lead to overheating. The radiator’s internal core is prone to being holed by stones.
